Dear IIT Alumni,
The Undergraduate Alumni Schools Committee at Illinois Institute of Technology contributes to recruitment efforts to bring students to the university, and as a volunteer, you may contribute, too. Volunteers aid this effort by meeting and talking with applicants and admitted students to help them gain a better understanding of IIT's outstanding academic and extra-curricular culture.
Alumni and other volunteers help us recruit the best students from around the globe, mentor them, and prepare them for rewarding careers.
5 Things You Can Do To Help Right Now:
- Forward the electronic versions of our materials to prospective students with a personal note from you.
With the exception of the College of Architecture, we will continue to review applications for admission for Fall 2008 from first-year students and transfer students through the month of July.
- Send information about our summer open houses to parents, teachers, colleagues or prospective students.
We will host two open houses for prospective 10th and 11th graders over the summer.
- Spread the word about our high school summer programs.
This July, we have two week-long programs available for Chicago-area students: Psychology in Everyday Life and Experiment in Architecture. Please note that the application deadlines for the summer programs have been extended.
- Recommend new students by emailing Jill Sifuentes.
You can also request that we drop off materials at your neighborhood school or community organization by contacting Jill.
- Attend a send-off party in your area.
Local alumni in San Francisco, San Diego, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, St. Louis, Anchorage and Honolulu are hosting a series of “send-off” parties for enrolling students and their families. For more information, contact Marian Quirk at quirk@iit.edu.
As a volunteer, you would be in an excellent position to help applicants develop an understanding of what makes IIT a unique and wonderful institution. We are confident that the more informed our applicants are the more likely they are to choose Illinois Institute of Technology. We value the contribution our volunteers make through the generous giving of their time, energy and intelligence to admissions work. We hope you become involved and enjoy being a participant in the ongoing conversation between IIT and our applicants.
Although the university may seem to have changed since you were an undergraduate here, the academic and intellectual culture remains very much the same. The quality of education that we offer continues to distinguish IIT and is renewed each year by the incoming first-year and transfer students arriving on campus.
We welcome your support and energy.
Sincerely,
Gerald P. Doyle
