The weather was spectacular in Chicago last weekend. I took my 8-year old son to the Indiana Dunes; this is certainly something you should add to your "To Do List" once you're at IIT.
There was a great deal of activity on campus this past week; here are some highlights:
- IIT and Sigma Xi Research Day + poster competition and lecture
- Celebrating the diverse research activities that take place across the University, this event brought together students, faculty, and staff. The event began with a poster competition in which students showcased their research.
- 33rd Street Productions Presents: Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead
- IIT's 33rd Street Productions presented this absurdist, existentialist tragicomedy by Tom Stoppard. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead is about the misadventures and musings of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, two minor characters from William Shakespeare's Hamlet.
- Interfaith Awareness Week
- The Office of Spiritual Life had a number of exciting and enlightening cultural events planned for Interfaith Awareness Week, including "Everest: A Climb for Peace," a movie screening and discussion with Director Lance Trumbull. The tremendous achievement by the movie is a socially relevant documentary about peace, war, and the human spirit. Filmed on location in Nepal, Tibet, Israel, Palestine, Jordan, U.A.E. and the United States, the film chronicles the spectacular journey of nine "peace climbers" from different faiths and cultures as they climb to the summit of the tallest mountain in the world.
- Cricket Club Selection
- IIT's cricket team is proud to be recognized as one of the strongest teams in Division II of the Midwest Cricket Conference (MCC). The MCC is a highly competitive cricket league, of which IIT has been a member since 2003. IIT Cricket Club (IITCC) invited all IIT students to tryout for the 2008 Cricket team this weekend.
We look forward to seeing you on campus in the fall as we continue to foster exciting developments in our community. Again, congratulations on your acceptance to IIT. If we can assist you or your family in any way over the course of the coming weeks, please let us know.
Sincerely,
Gerald P. Doyle
