On behalf of the IIT library community, congratulations on your admission to Illinois Institute of Technology!
The library will play a vital role in your undergraduate education at IIT. We are here to help you gain the necessary skills to navigate an increasingly complex world of scholarly information. At Galvin Library, you will have access to more than 1.4 million volumes, including books, journals, government documents, microforms and media items. You will also be connected to a rich array of online resources, including millions of articles from more than 25,500 online journals and research databases.
I invite you to visit our resource guide for newly admitted students at library.iit.edu/welcome. There, you will find more information on a range of important topics including:
Through the university's membership in one of the country's largest academic and research library consortia, IIT students have access to the collections of academic institutions across Illinois and, through a state-of-the-art interlibrary loan system, libraries across the nation. In addition to our fine collection of scholarly resources, we also maintain a growing leisure reading collection consisting of fiction and non-fiction books, as well as popular magazines and international newspapers.
I look forward to meeting you in the weeks and months ahead. My office is located on the upper level of the Paul V. Galvin Library (the building pictured above). I invite you to stop by to see me or correspond with me regarding any questions you might have, at stewart@iit.edu.
With best regards,
