There are a few items that you should take care of prior to coming to campus this fall.  I have included some important steps below for the 2008 academic advising and registration process.

Academic Advising and Registration for Fall 2008
(Degree-seeking Candidates)

Step 1: For most students, the Mathematics Placement Test and Basic Writing Proficiency Evaluation are important first steps towards registration.  Go here for information regarding math placement and here for writing proficiency details.

Step 2: Try to attend one of IIT's five Summer Orientation 2008 sessions, offered in June, July and August 2008.

All students who are advised and registered during Summer Orientation 2008 will be reviewed by their assigned department advisor in the weeks following the session.  We do expect that some students will not be able to complete their registration during the Summer Orientation advising sessions because they are uncertain of their major or will be waiting for their final results of:

- AP or IB Exams
- final transfer credit evaluations
- portfolio reviews for the College
  of Architecture

These issues will be brought up during your orientation advising sessions and discussed further on a later date with your assigned department advisor.

If you are having trouble contacting your advisor or have any academic advising questions, please contact Matthew Bauer, Director of Undergraduate Academic Advising, at bauerm@iit.edu.

NOTE: Regardless of your ability to attend one of the Summer Orientation sessions, you will soon be sent information regarding your assigned academic advisor and the process for advising and registration.  Those of you able to attend Summer Orientation may then contact your advisor and start discussing class options, in preparation for your summer meeting.  If you are unable to attend one of the Summer Orientation sessions, you can still communicate with your advisor and complete your registration process yourself by following the instructions that will be sent to you at that time.

Step 3: Log in to your myIIT account for more information about advising and registration.

Please let us know if we can be of any help; don't hesitate to contact the Office of Undergraduate Admission at 312.567.3025, 800.448.2329 (toll-free), or admission@iit.edu.
