Summer has finally arrived in Chicago. Students all over the city, like you, are attending their graduations and graduation parties, and are planning their summer breaks before they head off to college in the fall. As you complete this chapter in your life, you are probably—more than ever—beginning to think about what lies ahead.
As part of our continued effort to acclimate you to life at IIT, I want to introduce you to an important office on campus—the Career Management Center (CMC). This office will not only help you find professional opportunities and gain invaluable experience through co-ops and internships while you are a student, but will also help you prepare for what you want to do after college.
Here are just a few of the things the CMC can offer you:
- Workshops and seminars, such as "Making a First Impression," "Marketing Yourself," and "Transitioning from Student to Employee"
- Career fairs, offered at least once per semester, with hundreds of companies, firms and organizations in attendance
- Etiquette lunches and other events to introduce students to social expectations and networking practices in the professional world
- Résumé critique sessions and mock interviews to help students see how prospective employers understand them and what they are looking for
Most importantly, though, the Career Management Center offers a dedicated staff that really care about our students' success. To learn more about the CMC, go here.
In the meantime, enjoy your summer; we will continue to be in touch in the weeks ahead to keep you apprised of what is happening on campus. As always, don't hesitate to contact the Office of Undergraduate Admission, if you have any questions about the enrollment process, at 312.567.3025, 800.448.2329 (toll-free), or admission@iit.edu.
Warm regards,
