Thank you for your calls, emails and visits over the past couple of weeks. Here are few more responses to students' questions that might help you and your family. If these responses do not address your specific concerns, please contact the IIT Office of Financial Aid directly.
Q: I would like to attend IIT, but my family and I have not been sure if we can afford it. Is it too late to start the process?
A: There is still time. The first step begins with completing the FAFSA. If you would like your financial aid counselor to walk you through the process or to help you get started, simply give us a call.
Q: Should our enrollment form and tuition deposit be postmarked by May 1st, or should they be received by the Office of Undergraduate Admission by May 1st?
A: Your enrollment forms can be postmarked on May 1st (or May 2nd—stuff happens). Please do not spend additional monies on overnight mail services or carriers. Regular U.S. post service is fine; if you're sending your documents internationally, we do recommend sending them through a service that allows you to track your documents.
Q: Can IIT assist us by providing other scholarship resources to help us meet the cost of attendance?
A: We encourage you to develop an important habit of applying for outside sources of assistance throughout your undergraduate studies at IIT, both as a form of support during the academic year and as an important source of summer research/internship/travel opportunities. Some resources are listed on the Office of Financial Aid Web site under Other Scholarship Resources, and a few are listed below as starters to further you current search.
As always, we are here to help. As a result of the heavy volume of calls to the IIT Office of Financial Aid, we will now be offering extended hours to review the financial aid package with you by phone:
- Our financial aid counselors will be available until 9 PM from Monday – Thursday, and on the weekends from 11 AM to 8 PM, Central Standard Time.
- To request and schedule a time to speak with a counselor, please email Mr. Adam Pruitt at finaid@iit.edu with the subject as "New Students Financial Aid Appointment Request." In the body of the request email, please provide the date and TWO times of the day on which you may be contacted.
- Upon receipt of your email, we will notify you of the appointment time and schedule.
Finally, please contact our office with any individual questions that you might have regarding the financial aid process, or contact me directly if I can assist you in any way.
We look forward to your arrival on campus in August.
Sincerely,
Gerald P. Doyle
