Dear Colleague,

This year, we held our first open-air commencement in a long time on our main campus (rather than downtown).  Our soccer field was transformed into a magnificent setting for the graduation exercises.  The weather was spectacular and the "El" train schedule was light throughout the program.

As you prepare to work with your 10th and 11th graders, or your seniors who are perhaps rethinking their college choice for next fall, I want to share more news with you about IIT.  (Please note that the application deadlines for our summer programs have been extended.)

  • Psychology in Everyday Lifejust announced!  IIT Institute of Psychology is offering Psychology in Everyday Life to introduce high school students to the profession of psychology.  The program will be a rich learning experience designed to help students make the connection between psychological principles and human behavior in everyday life.  Students will acquire a broad array of facts about the developing child, the aging grown-up and everything else that occurs across the lifespan.

The one-week session will be offered twice this summer, from Monday, July 14 to Friday, July 18 and again from Monday, July 21 to Friday, July 25, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM each day.

  • Experiment in Architectureseasoned program with a few spots left in each session!  Experiment in Architecture is designed to introduce high school students to the profession of architecture.  Students will tour the city of Chicago, complete a series of design projects, attend lectures by IIT faculty, participate in discussions with local architects, and work in the college's model shop and multi-media lab.

The same one-week session will be offered twice this summer, from Monday, July 14 to Friday, July 18 and again from Monday, July 21 to Friday, July 25.  The workshop will run from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM each day.

  • Two Summer Open HousesSaturday, June 28 and Saturday, July 26.  Students, faculty and staff will show students what IIT is all about in each open house so this is an ideal chance for your students to see the entire campus in one day.  All family members are welcome and refreshments will be provided.

Finally, if you have not visited IIT (or if you haven't visited in quite some time), we invite you to stop by during the summer months if you are in Chicago.  We would be pleased to assist with evening accommodations during your visit to IIT.  For more details on this Counselor Visit Program—whether during the summer or throughout the academic year—please contact Christy Drescher, Senior Admission Counselor, at drescher@iit.edu. If you or your colleagues have any questions about the admission process at IIT, please contact me directly at 312.567.5203 or doyle@iit.edu.

Sincerely,
