In an effort to help resolve a looming global energy crisis, IIT—with a multi-million dollar grant from the Department of Energy—has partnered with the Galvin Electricity Initiative to build a system of microgrids that will convert IIT's Main Campus into the flagship Perfect Power System. By adapting to electrical usage trends, the grids will help IIT eliminate and minimize outages and disturbances, curb greenhouse gas emissions, and will serve as a prototype for other similar systems around the U.S. Learn more here (PDF).
