Fall & Spring Individual Visit Opportunities

Students and their families may schedule an appointment to meet with one of our admission counselors Monday through Friday between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm throughout the academic year. Appointments generally last about an hour, and can cover a variety of topics. We encourage all students to visit with a counselor at least once during or before the application process so that all of their questions can be adequately answered. A campus tour and complimentary lunch can also be included with your appointment upon request.

Students who have been admitted may also schedule an appointment to meet with a faculty member within their desired academic department. Due to scheduling and space considerations, we ask that these requests be made at least two weeks prior to the appointment.

To schedule an appointment, use our online request form, or call us at 312.567.3025. Please request your appointment and receive confirmation at least one week in advance for local students, and before making any travel plans for those traveling from outside the Chicago area.

2008 Summer Visit Opportunities

Chicago Summers

Chicago holds many exciting events and activities throughout the summer that you may want to plan for, along with your trip to IIT's Main Campus. For information on other events happening in the city, check out the City of Chicago's website at egov.cityofchicago.org.

It's hard to say what Chicago weather will be like (90 degrees and humid or 70 degrees and breezy), so go to Chicago Tribune's Weather Forecast to see what you can expect while you're here.

Schedule an Individual Visit

Monday, May 19 through Friday, August 8, students and their families may schedule an appointment to meet with one of our admission counselors Monday through Friday between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm. As with appointments scheduled throughout the academic year, they generally last about an hour, and can cover a variety of topics. We encourage all students to visit with a counselor at least once during or before the application process so that all of their questions can be adequately answered.

During the Summer, one-hour walking tours of campus are available Monday through Friday at 12:00 pm.

Limited appointments will be scheduled from Monday, August 11 through Friday, August 22 so be sure to call for availability.

Visit Saturdays

On select Saturdays throughout the academic year, the office will be open, tours offered, and a counselor on hand to give a brief presentation about admission and IIT.

Tour Main Campus

Tours of historic Main Campus guided by our student ambassadors leave from the Office of Undergraduate Admission each day at 12:45 pm. Students, their families and guests are welcome to join the tour and see classrooms, The McCormick Tribune Campus Center, National Historic Landmark S.R. Crown Hall, residence halls, and more.

We do request that you register to take a tour by using our online request form.

Attend an Open House

For an in-depth look at the campus, academic programs, and student life, an open house is a great time to visit. Students, their families, and guests will be treated to a brief welcome, tours of Main Campus, academic exploration sessions with faculty members, discussion panels with current students, and staff from numerous student service departments on hand to answer questions.

To attend an open house, just register using our online registration form, or return the postcard you received in the mail. Registration for each open house will open approximately one month before the event.

Special Events

Throughout the year, events are held which focus specifically on a particular group of students. Currently, there are no more upcoming special events scheduled.

Group / Special Visits

Special visits for school groups or organizations who are interested in getting an inside look at student life at IIT and the college admission process can be scheduled through the Office of Undergraduate Admission. We offer student led group tours and special presentations with IIT staff throughout different times of the year.
